Position Description
Seeking a Materials Science Co-Op to assist materials research in Tube Fittings Division (TFD) of Parker Hannifin Corporation in Columbus, OH. The student will work closely with the Materials Science Engineer to support development of new products, quality, and processing improvement of current products.
Essential Responsibility
- Perform mechanical tests of a variety of properties including hardness, tensile, fracture toughness et al.
- Prepare and analyze metallographic samples for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys
- Assist failure analysis on products from testing and field application
- Conduct chemical analysis to measure the chemical composition of alloys
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data to support professional test reports
- Maintain a safe testing environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Help with other miscellaneous engineering tasks
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Finish at least 2 years education toward a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or other related engineering disciplines
- Experience in materials testing laboratory environment preferred
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
